Pyrmont, a suburb that graces Sydney CBD’s edge is a mix of the old and the new, an infusion of trends and tradition. A number of modern apartment and commercial buildings blend in with the old-world charm that enriches Pyrmont, now one of Sydney’s most populated suburbs.

Situated between two of Sydney’s most iconic bridges, the Harbour and the Anzac, Pyrmont is in close proximity to the CBD which is connected to the inner city by its very own pedestrian bridge. The Pyrmont Bridge is one of the oldest wingspan bridges which facilitates the flow of commuters from nearby Wynyard and Town Hall Stations as well as the Barangaroo precinct.

Traditional worker’s cottages, old fishing ports, converted wool stores, wharves and factories have been transformed into a trendy mix of inner city residences and commercial HQs, such as those of Google’s. Popular destinations such as The Star Casino, The Maritime Museum, the southern hemisphere’s largest Fish Markets and jogging tracks are entwined into the engrossing suburb.

The Anzac bridge, a colossal cable-stayed bridge sets an impressive silhouette over the suburb and a number of characteristic finger wharves grace the water’s edge. Cyclists and pedestrians can find their way through the precinct via an exciting urban renewal project that turned a disused railway corridor into a pedestrian and cycle network from Railway Square, Ultimo and Darling Harbour.

Some of Sydney’s best restaurants, cafes and bars are located in Pyrmont including Flying Fish, Zumbo, Marquee, Messina, Momofuku Seiobe and Sokyo. Creatives and corporations have flocked to the area. The aforementioned Google, Uber, Network Ten and Domain Group all call the bustling suburb home.

Thanks to the migration of these businesses, this once defiant working class area is now decidedly tech-focused. The growth in communications and digital related companies has led to an overall 46 per cent increase in new jobs in the area. A huge upswing in quality residential and hospitality offerings have complemented this surge in employment.
